Starting from the assumption that production spaces could often be noisy and harsh, the project has the ambition to create inside the Ferrero factories places dedicated to the break moments of employees, conceived as domestic spaces, corporate lounges characterized by an informal and relaxing atmosphere. Within each of these areas, the internal space is diversified in order to allow each user to live the break independently or to share it with colleagues.
The key element of the project is the ‘wonder wall’, a modular furniture wall equipped with several elements in order to host many functions from the small kitchen (which could be closed thanks to folding and sliding doors) to the notice board in cork panels, to the more intimate spaces that allow the employees to isolate themselves for reading or listening to music. In the biggest break areas, other elements can be integrated into the wall, such as vending machines or a stretching corners, which offer some tools for those who want to do a few minutes of physical exercise before returning to the production line. Inside the ‘wonder wall’ a strip of LED screens is also integrated for the transmission of various types of content, selected by the company.
In each room the ‘wonder wall’ has a different color and therefore also becomes a strong distinctive element from the outside, uniquely identifying each break area. The color of the ‘wonder wall’ is also extended to the floor, the wall and the adjacent door, clearly identifying the area where the break room amenities condense.
The leisure area is instead the area where employees can sit, eat, chat and stay with colleagues. The area, of variable size depending on the available space, is equipped with comfortable seating, a sofa or some armchairs and a table also of variable size based on the number of users expected. The leisure area is designed to recreate a cosy environment thanks to soft seats in leather or fabric, to warm and natural materials such as wood flooring and furnishings, in addition to the copper used to cover the table tops and the careful use of light sources, with warm light, which helps to create intimate and welcoming micro spaces.
