This small-sized house requested a careful study of the spatial and functional distribution. The apartment, located on the top floor of an early 20th-century building in the NoLo district, has been conceived as a single entity with no doors in order to maximize the fluidity of the space without giving up the privacy required for the services and sleeping area. The floor plan is basically split into three main areas, the bedroom, the living room and the service block next to the entrance which includes the laundry closet, the bathroom and the kitchen niche.
The bathroom, split into two parts, is barely visible from the living room, hidden behind the kitchen niche. Both the bathroom and the shower are separated from the rest of the rooms by partitions in metal and wired glass. These two different spaces are related by the use of materials and colors, such as the sink unit and the entry threshold to the shower compartment, both in gray terrazzo, or the 10×10 shower tiles in celadon green tint, matching the color of walls and ceiling in the bathroom. The existing parquet, with a traditional Italian herringbone laying, was restored and integrated both in the entrance and bathroom area with oak strips similar in size but with a parallel laying, thus revealing the subsequent intervention in relation to the existing one. Furniture and accessories are giving colorful accents to the warm colors of the walls.
