Casa AF2 is a small 35 sqm apartment in the historic center of Camogli, designed as a seaside retreat for a family of three.

The narrow, deep plan, typical of Ligurian homes, opens towards the coast like a telescope, culminating in two sea-front windows that become large eyes on the landscape. The sea thus becomes part of the project: the sight, light and sound of the waves become a constant presence inside the house.

The architectural intervention is deliberately minimal. All service functions, such as kitchen, laundry, wardrobes and bathroom, are concentrated within a system of custom furnishings, freeing up the space intended for the living and sleeping areas and maintaining, throughout the apartment, a continuous relationship with the sea.

The new dry partitions enable reversibility for the project and allow efficient, unobstructed use of space without adding unnecessary weight. A sliding panel separates the sleeping area, while a large powder-pink volume incorporates storage and a compact bed at a higher level.

The colour palette draws from the Ligurian landscape: shades of blue, petrol green, powder pink and warmer tones are set against soft off-white walls. The blue lacquered ceiling wraps around the original timber beams, made from old ship masts reused in the construction of the building.

On the floor, a sequence of blue and white striped ceramics recalls the geometries of Gio Ponti and directs the view toward the sea.
